By now, everyone knows that the last installment of the Avengers series – Endgame – will be out next week (24 April), but as you know, you can already buy tickets for the show as early as today (well, on 10 April). Are Singaporeans that desperate to be the first to watch the movie even though it’ll still be screening for at least a month after the opening?
Turns out that people DO go gaga over them – mainly scalpers who are sweeping up multiple tickets for the 24-25th April screenings. Just head onto Carousell and you’ll see over a hundred listings selling these tickets, some priced over $500!
At least it’s not as bad as the tickets that were auctioned on eBay for the premiere that went for US$25,000 (S$33,800), with tickets actually sold for US$10,000 (S$13,500).
You may have heard the news that Shaw’s website crashed after people inundated their site to get their hands on IMAX tickets – everyone had to be on a queue!
Actually while it’s true that all opening night tickets have been SOLD OUT across all theatres, they’re usually only for the high-end tickets like those for Gold Class, Gemini, Platinum, or IMAX theatres, as well as for some night-time screenings at other theatres.
Bottom line is, if you’re still intent on watching Avengers:Endgame during its opening day, you can still get tickets. All cinemas still have available seats for early show times, especially for the morning or afternoon screenings. Some cinemas still have night-time seats, if you don’t mind the front-row seats.
Or if you don’t mind running into spoilers, you could just wait patiently until the following week when all seats are available.
