Disney’s classic Beauty and the Beast will be coming to life for the very first time on our local shores! As part of their 20th anniversary celebration, the international tour and smash hit Broadway musical will be performed from the 21 March 2015 at the MasterCard Theatres, Marina Bay Sands, bringing along with them a full international cast as well as a full orchestra! The show presents a wide variety of magnificent music, sets and costumes and will include 6 additional songs that are written specifically for the musical, apart from the famous classics like “Be our guest” and “Tale as old as time”.
In a recent media preview, we were introduced to Hilary Maiberger and Darick Pead, the male and female lead who play Belle and Beast respectively and their amazing vocals were sure to make any audience member melt. They sang “Tale as Old as Time” in the form of a duet, and captivated everyone on scene.
I had the privilege of interviewing both leads, and the inspirational advice that they gave to those who aspire to take centre stage was to “have fun, stay true to yourself, never give up!” They also advised: “Be kind, as that’s the one thing that sets you apart from everybody else. You are significant; you have to understand that. Though you’re going to probably get a lot of “no’s” before you get the main role, you can’t take it personally because it has nothing to do with you, or your talent. It’s just because you’re not right for the role, and that’s okay, as there are other roles but never, never take it personally and know that you’re enough, never stop working and work really, really hard.”
Beauty and the Beast, the original Broadway musical, runs from the 21 March till 19 April 2015.
