Bladerunner 2049 is probably one of the most anticipated releases this month, which sees Harrison Ford returning to the movie he starred in 30 years ago. Joined by Ryan Gosling, the duo continue the story of the original Bladerunner 2019 – an iconic movie that has set the tone for a dystopian future we all know today.
But before you hit the theatres for the latest Bladerunner, you should really watch the 3 shorts produced especially to fill in the gaps for events that happened between 2019 and 2049. Director Denis Villeneuve commissioned these 3 shorts, beginning with an anime version, “Black Out 2022” which is written and directed by Shinichiro Watanabe (creator of cult classics Cowboy Bebop and Samurai Champloo).

This is followed by “2036: Nexus Dawn” and then “2048: Nowhere to Run” which are directed by Luke Scott, son of Ridley Scott who created the very first Bladerunner.
