It’s a dreaded word: Fitness. But for a body like Rihanna, you do need the exercise. So if you’re looking for some inspiration, music would be your best bet. Here is a list of songs that will have you raring to hit the gym.

Work B*tch – Britney Spears

The Queen of Pop does it again. Her latest single doesn’t only make you feel guilty for eating an extra bag of chips, it also enforces the attitude that everyone should work hard for what they want. If you’ve ever been guilty of being all talk and no action, this song will get your gears going. It’s motivational, empowering and all sorts of kickass.

Lemme Think About It – Ida Corr vs. Fedde Le Grand

This underrated gem is perfect for warm-ups before an hour-long cardio or dance session. Its up-tempo house beat, coupled with hints of jazz, makes for an addictive tune. So much that you’ll be motivated to outlast the entire song – and subsequently start on your actual workout session feeling uber-hyped.

Lose Control – Ciara, Missy Elliot & Fatman Scoop

With three powerhouse R&B artists in one song, there is no stopping once the song starts. Its continuous upbeat tempo and catchy lyrics will keep you from forgetting the pain of working out, but instead wanting more. Don’t be surprised if you catch yourself dancing in the middle of your workout – because that just attests to the power of this song.

Here It Goes Again – OK Go

When picking fitness-motivating tunes, the right lyrics can make or break your fitness plan for the day. “Here It Goes Again” boasts all the energy-inducing prowess of an alternative rock cum power-pop hit, with its gung-ho lyrics – it is guaranteed to maintain your momentum while working up a sweat.

Dare You To Move – Switchfoot

Nothing like a chorus that spurs you to run a little faster, dance a little harder, gym a little longer, this rock track has the crescendo that seeps into your bones and fuels your adrenaline, injecting a new lease of life when you’re worn and weary. In my opinion, there’s no song that makes you feel more invincible – and that’s always comforting especially when you’re dealing with the prospect of an intensive workout sesh.
