If you’re wondering what to do over the weekends, then why not drop by some arts events? You can go with friends or family and enjoy a cultured day out, with performances, film screenings, or workshops – and best of all, they’re all free to attend! Here’s a list of some things you can do:

Goodman Open House | 22 June 2019

Goodman Arts Centre | 11am-5pm
If you’ve ever wondered what goes on in Singapore’s largest arts enclave, then you have to visit Goodman Arts Centre (near Mountbatten MRT), which is home to everything from dance ensembles to comic and pottery studios. During the Open House, there will be plenty of free dance and theatre performances, as well as workshops like glass-making and stamp printing, as well as perfumery sessions and more. More here.

Fiesta Hari Raya Open House | 22-23 June 2019

Malay Heritage Centre | Sat: 10.30am-10pm, Sun: 11am-5pm
Enjoy a weekend of festivities, from craft activities to live dance and music performance, and even a film screening of Seniman Bujang Lapok, a P. Ramlee comedy classic. Free craft activities include building your own ‘Boat in a bottle’, cooking demonstrations, and a little treasure hunt. There will also be popular food trucks to cater to attendees. More here.


WHABBY! Music Carnival 2019 | 22 June 2019

*SCAPE Playspace | 12pm-late night
The full-day affair will be filled with live music, dance and art performances, games, art and a village market featuring local crafters and F&B brands. There will be over 10 acts at the carnival, including rapper Axel Brizzy, world music band Flame of The Forest, the eccentric The MadHatter Project, and grunge rock powerhouse Knightingale; the stage will be hosted by funnyman, Hirzi. B.Y.O. Cinema: Forever Fever | 22 June 2019 – 28 September 2019

Design Orchard (Rooftop) | 7pm
B.Y.O. Cinema is back for its second season, featuring free outdoor movie screenings of locally-made films from June to September this year. All screenings – held over 5 weekends – are accompanied by freeflow snacks. The season kicks off with Forever Fever (1998), a musical comedy disco film set in 70s’ Singapore, with a dose of Singaporean humour. There will be freeflow churros, popcorn, and candy floss! Aliwal Arts Centre | 1pm-10pm
The annual multi-disciplinary arts festival is back for its seventh edition. Join walking tours to uncover the rich cultural and heritage secrets of Kampong Glam, enjoy multi-disciplinary performances incorporating modern technology into art, express your creativity by creating unique masterpieces at art and music workshops, and check out the pop-up So Gelam Market.
