Campus Zalora Icon Fiona Heng is as down to earth as they come.

Her sister signed her up for the Campus Zalora Icon contest as a bit of a joke, then launched a voting campaign that marketed her as the underdog. The campaign was called ‘Slumdog Icon’ and Fiona Heng was fairly certain she would not win.
“But I guess that got some attention and people started sharing the campaign on Facebook,” said the 25-year-old, who was surprised to come up tops. According to Heng, she didn’t even know she was a contestant until ‘Facebook started buzzing’.
Heng, who is a Business Management undergraduate at SMU, never thought of herself as pageant material. “Most of the female contestants were very sweet and pleasant, but I’m not demure at all!” she said.
Having obtained a diploma from Nanyang Polytechnic’s Mass Communication course, she is far more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it. Heng is no tomboy – she enjoys dressing up and trying on new clothes – but during the competition, was worried about pulling off certain styles. “When the photos came out, I was afraid to look at them,” she said, only half in jest.
Beauty or brains – we asked the spunky lass which she would rather have.
“Brains, but not too much because people with too much brains are boring to talk to! I think personality, above everything else, is most important.”
That, she has no shortage of.
