McDonald’s Japan has a history of rolling out a fries with strange flavours – but this time, it’s actually quite ‘normal’: “Japanese Style French Fries Candied Sweet Potato”. Basically, it’s candied sweet potatoes with a special sweet sauce with black sesame.
These are called “university potatoes” (大学芋) in Japanese, so called because apparently they used to be popular with Japanese college students in the 1900s. As usual, the fries are only available for a limited time in February.
So if you didn’t get the chance to try their “McFry Potato Chocolate Sauce” – basically fries drizzled with dark- and white chocolate sauce – or even their “Chocolate Pumpkin” fries, then you may to try their latest offering before they’re sold out.
