Celebrating Creativity

The nation’s creative atmosphere is alive and kicking, and to celebrate the gust of artistic talent that has inundated our island, *SCAPE is organising its first-ever youth arts festival.
Held for an entire week (April 15 – 21) at *SCAPE, SHOW IT! Youth Arts Festival features a myriad of activities (all of which are FREE). Take your pick from live performances, daily workshops and local art exhibitions – whichever day you pick to pop by, you will see and experience something completely different – from salsa lessons to reality-bending interactive art.
To help inspire people to break out of their cookie-cutter shells, activities like breakdancing, graffiti and DJ workshops have been organised so that you can learn to get your groove on, and even pick up a move or two to flaunt in the club (or a spontaneous dance-off if you feel like it).
More than just about exhibitionist art though, there are a bunch classes that are available to hone your other skills like workshops in culinary arts and creative writing. But if you’re looking to really get the creative juices bubbling, pick from a variety of classes like drumming, film and even salsa, which are all led by renowned experts.
If you are looking to be more of a spectator, be mesmerized by Singapore’s anamorphic artist, Teng Yen Lin – known for her eye-catching visuals that have the power to play tricks on your mind (seriously), her works are definitely not to be missed.
Looking to get in touch with your musical side, then take your pick of home grown talents, with numerous performances held throughout the week with local names like Koflow, guitar-weilding Zsa Zsa Scorpion and Kevin Lester.
With plenty of movie screenings held throughout the week too, you will even get the opportunity to interact with the local stars of Ah Boys to Men, who are putting in a special appearance. And FREE popcorn is supplied everyday!
