Graced by Member of Parliament of Ang Mo Kio GRC, Mr. Inderjit Singh, the 3rd Young Entrepreneur Awards by Canon was held at Chijmes Hall on the 18th of February and up to $24,000 worth of cash and products were awarded to the top 4 business plans. The awards were launched in September 2010 to encourage aspiring entrepreneurs to take the first step towards realizing their dreams. Open only to Singaporeans aged 18 to 40, we interview Mr. Lukas Seet, the 2nd runner up on his Armor Bash idea.

What inspired you to come up with the idea?

As the founder of an enrichment center in 2010, I found out that many students are not doing well in studies or have speech difficulties due to a lack of confidence. Hence I invented a team building warfare game that required them to raise their courage, communication, and endurance. The kids enjoyed it so much. I then got together an adult team and we tested it at NTU sports hall. The results were amazing we all felt a sense of high and exhilaration, even after many days after the game. I discovered its therapeutic effects in addition to being a fantastic team builder and strategic planning game.

Did you see yourself becoming a entrepreneur 5 years ago?

I saw myself being an entrepreneur as young as 17 years old. I used to gather my jc friends to discuss about breakthrough business ideas. It did give me a chance to practice my skills and thinking processes as an entrepreneur.

Is there any advice you could give other aspiring entrepreneurs?

My advice is to just do it. Overly planning and thinking about it is simply procrastination. If there is a course that teaches you entrepreneurship, attend it and be prepared to face another 90% of unknown scenarios that you will face.
