Those who subscribe to Netflix may have seen David Gelb’s popular series called Chef’s Table. With 3 seasons currently released, every season examines the lifestyle and kitchens of renowned international chefs, such as Massimo Bottura, Francis Mallmann, Enrique Olvera and more. The trailers for the series are famously inspirational, and often leave you wanting more (and perhaps salivating). Combining the dreamy artistic feel that seduces the viewer, with tension provided by the violin-heavy soundtrack, as well as the short snippets of narration for context, these trailers pull in the viewer at first sight, like this.
Even though this series doesn’t seem like one you could make much fun of, Portlandia managed to create a hilarious parody of Chef’s Table, mocking the series on multiple aspects, such as the passion of the chefs, their ‘incredible’ back stories and the stylistic aspects of the show. For anyone familiar with the show or at least have seen the trailer, this short will give you a good laugh.
