It’s that time of year when students begin exploring options for further education and planning their future careers, and the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT) Open House 2025 is the perfect opportunity to gain fresh perspectives and discover exciting possibilities. Hosted at SIT’s brand new Punggol campus for the first time from 8 to 9 February, visitors can engage in unique activities–like drone soccer and a treasure hunt for mystery prizes–and gain valuable insights into SIT’s applied learning approach, industry-relevant programmes, and vibrant campus life, all set within the dynamic Punggol Digital District.
Whether you’re considering your next steps in higher education or envisioning your career path, SIT’s Open House may just be the eye-opener you need to chart your future. Here’s what you can expect during the weekend:
New year, new programmes
No visit to SIT’s Open House would be complete without exploring the wide range of degree programmes on offer. In addition to the current array of programmes spanning fields from digital art to hospitality to physiotherapy, there will be three new programmes offered in 2025.
SIT will be introducing Singapore’s first Engineering undergraduate degrees delivered via the Competency-based Education approach: the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) and the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Infrastructure and Systems Engineering (ISE), for full-time students from the Academic Year starting in September 2025. Traditional engineering degrees often follow a bottom-up approach, where students first learn mathematics, physics, and fundamentals in isolation, gradually building up to more complex systems. In contrast, SIT’s Competency-Based Education (CBE) approach is structured around self-contained Learning Blocks that enable students to master specific competencies relevant to real-world engineering roles. For example, the ISE programme includes Learning Blocks like Smart Maintenance, which teaches advanced tools such as sensors, data analytics, and predictive maintenance techniques to ensure systems remain operational and efficient.
Each Learning Block includes an integrated project based on real-world scenarios, allowing students to apply what they’ve learned in practical settings. This innovative approach ensures that graduates are better prepared to meet industry needs with the right skills and knowledge.
The next offering is an interdisciplinary degree programme that integrates Business and Infocomm Technology, with dual specialisations in Hospitality and Tourism Management, and Artificial Intelligence [BISBICT (HTM & AI)]. This unique four-year programme addresses the demand for professionals who can transform business operations and lead digital innovation in hospitality with advanced AI skills to optimise operations, enhance competitiveness, and drive efficiency.
Alongside degree programmes, SIT will also introduce the Applied Sustainability Talent Programme (ASTP), which is open to all Year 1 undergraduate students. It integrates sustainability practices into their academic journey, equipping students with foundational knowledge in sustainability measurement and management, applied through work experiences or capstone projects. Their skills will make them valuable assets to organisations prioritising sustainability and social responsibility in an increasingly eco-conscious global market.
You can get a closer look at these various degree programmes through informative degree exhibits or participate in the many workshops and activities available throughout the Open House. They include masterclasses in character design for animation and games, mechanical design workshops, and even a demonstration of mixed reality (MR) through the use of ViCollAR. Developed by SIT, ViCollAR is an innovative 3D data visualisation system that allows multiple users to interact with the same virtual objects in augmented reality (AR).

The Open House will also offer you a glimpse into the future with the presence of a Humanoid Robot, an innovative creation jointly developed by students from the Robotics Systems programme and industry partners, Firefense Pte Ltd and Ceredroid Pte Ltd. This cutting-edge robot is capable of performing human-like actions such as walking, carrying items, interacting with people, and handling objects.
These interactive sessions provide valuable insights into the curriculum, allowing you to make informed decisions about your educational journey at SIT.
Fun and Games: Drone Soccer, Treasure Hunt, and more
One of the standout highlights of this year’s SIT Open House is Drone Soccer, an exhilarating blend of aerospace engineering, robotics, and teamwork. Using specially designed drones as flying “soccer balls,” attendees can pilot these drones in a match, working as a team to navigate obstacles, score goals, and defend their airspace. Presented by the newly launched Aerospace Specialisation within SIT’s Mechanical Engineering programme, this activity offers a hands-on introduction to drone design and the core principles of aerodynamics, flight mechanics, and navigation systems—key foundations for an exciting career in the ever-evolving aerospace industry.
If you’re looking for other action-packed games to play, you can also join the “Where’s OTi?” treasure hunt to bag yourself a sure-win mystery prize, which can be anything from Apple products to SIT merchandise. To play the game, simply download the app and look out for OTi–the “otterly” adorable mascot of SIT–whose stickers are hidden all over campus. Simply collect/scan 3 stickers to redeem your prize at the vending machine!
These aren’t the only games available at the Open House. You can also find some classic arcade games, like Bishi Bashi, air hockey, Dance Dance Revolution, arcade basketball, and even a bouncy castle!
In addition to lively performances by student groups, there will also be photo booths, as well as airbrush tattoos and caricature drawing available, so you can bring home a piece of SIT memorabilia.
Eat, drink, and be merry
The Open House is not just an opportunity to explore what SIT has to offer in terms of education – it’s also an ideal time for you to check out the state-of-the-art new campus at Punggol. SITizen ambassadors will be on hand to lead guided campus tours, giving you a chance to experience the modern facilities, innovative learning spaces, and vibrant student life that make SIT a hub of academic excellence and innovation.
If you’re feeling peckish, you can also check out the F&B stalls at the open space outside Blocks E5 and E6, where you can find an array of snacks like bubble tea, muah chee, ice cream, churros, cup corn, and candy floss. Plus, look out for the Milo truck and Ribena stand for free refreshments.
There will also be a fun game card prepared for the Open House so that you can redeem F&B coupons after completing a set number of games. And to sweeten the deal, SIT will be offering F&B coupons in gachapon capsules for the first 500 students each day.
