The second of five productions in the year-long imagiNATION season, W!LD RICE’s Another Country takes inspiration from ‘Peace’, a value represented by one of the five stars on Singapore’s national flag.
Curated by acclaimed local playwright Alfian Sa’at and renowned Malaysian playwright Leow Puay Tin, provocative texts from both Singapore and Malaysia will be performed to depict life in each country. Featured works include a short story written by Catherine Lim and a play by Michael Chiang, and excerpts from a Jit Murad play and Mark Teh’s toast and more. Expect funny, poignant, political and heartwarming texts to be performed for the length of the performance!
The collaborative project will have the Singapore cast performing works by the Malaysian writers and the Malaysian cast presenting works of Singapore Literature. The respective directors, Ivan Heng and Jo Kukathas, will also be joined by a multi-talented cast featuring some of the finest actors such as Lim Yu Being and Siti Khalijah Zainal from Singapore, and Ghafir Akbar and Sharifah Amani from Malaysia.
The play will be running from 25 June to 11 July at the Drama Centre Theatre, Singapore.
